Über die Austellung

Cutting and slicing: a powerful intervention in a hitherto intact pictorial world, but also the prerequisite for new structures of form and meaning. Removing, adding, shifting: it is often minimal changes that reveal completely new, unexpected contexts and create space for associations that sometimes only become apparent at second glance. Visual artist and filmmaker Aline Helmcke, who lives in Leipzig and Berlin, regularly uses cutting, tearing and collage techniques in her animations and works on paper. The exhibition “Drehmoment” shows a selection of recent works.
