Pop-Up Poetry: Poetic Media Formats

Students will present their first experimental performances and media actions in Weimar city centre. AI-supported poetic forms of expression also feature. The following summary provides an overview of the various projects.

How To PopUp Poetry
Florian Rommel, Sai Pranay

We invite interested people to observe their surroundings with their favorite lines of poetry in mnd and to intervene with the help of poetry. We will provide postcards for this purpose. All results will be collected under the hashtag #poetryfilmtage and sent out into the world.

Poetic Human Data Server
Paulette Breuhahn, Kiki Möller, Fine Grewe

In a tent at Theaterplatz, we invite passersby to collaboratively create poems – using large word cards, music, and shifting sets of instructions. Like an AI prompt, participants initially receive clear directions: about the topic, the arrangement of words, and the process itself. With each round of the workshop, the level of guidance gradually decreases until pure improvisation takes over.
The participants become a kind of “human data server,” negotiating meaning, perspective, and coincidence as a collective. A drone documents the process from above, and at the end, everyone receives a photo of the final poem as a keepsake in a small envelope.

Kids’ table

Aurora Marinato, Agba Chinemlum, Maria Smirnova

In our interactive performance, we want to transform a moment that is typically ritualistic, private, and sacred. Meals shared around a table, especially with family, often come with unspoken expectations of behavior. Social norms, or ‘good manners,’ can sometimes suppress honest expression. Through this project, we want to create a space where people feel free to speak about what they’ve experienced, what they feel, and what memories the setting evokes.

Poetry Oracle
Maria Anina Bering Christiansen

Approach the Oracle and let your fortune be told in the form of a poem, but don’t forget, an offering must also be made. You shall receive the poetic wisdom in exchange for a thought of wonder of your own. Look into the frames, consider the questions you see, or those you do not see, and your discovery will be your answer, your offering.
