The visual artist and filmmaker Aline Helmcke, based in Leipzig and Berlin, regularly uses cutting, tearing, and collage techniques for her animations and works on paper. The exhibition “Drehmoment” shows a selection of current works.

Unexpected constellations, bold superimpositions, exciting connections – all this is collage. But how do these new combinations of found materials come about and in which direction could they develop further? In this workshop, we worked on various collages and transferred individual still images into movement using the technique of layering.
