Call 2027 – Weimar Poetry Film Award

12th Weimar Poetry Film Award

Through the Weimar Poetry Film Award the Literary Society of Thuringia (»LGT«) and its partners from the Bauhaus-University are looking for innovative poetry films. Filmmakers from any nation and of any age are welcome to participate with up to three short films of up to 15:00 mins, which should explore the relation between film and written poetry in an innovative, straightforward way. Films that are produced before 2024 will not be considered.

The project »Weimar Poetry Film Award« is financed by the Thuringian Ministry of Science, Education and Culture (main sponsor). The prizes will be awarded during the international festival »Poetryfilmtage«, which is financed by the State Chancellery of Thuringia.

From all submitted films selected for the festival competition three Jury members will choose the winner of the main awards (Best animation, €1.200; Best video, €1.200). Moreover, a “New Talents” prize for student work (€500) and an audience prize (€250) will be awarded.

The Weimar Poetry Film Award is an open call for entries from around the world. You can submit your entry via FilmFreeway or by email, attaching the signed entry form. Entries should include a viewing copy uploaded to FilmFreeway or a link to a preview, film stills, a synopsis, a quotable text of the related poem in German or English, and the director’s short biography/filmography and the writer’s biography/publication list, all in German or English.
